Without shields you need to be able to field more ships or ships that have more than just a single teleport as defense.įorce me to jump out of an aoe attack. Once they reduce the damage from the Pulse weapon to be reasonable, the point values of the ships need to go down. Necrons do have high damage weapons, but they fire WAY too slow vs Eldar whose weapons pack a punch at a high ROF, hell even orks who should be weak at firepower at range seem to do better at the same range. Necrons and Space Marines are in a very bad state at the moment and are the two factions that need the most work. The only time novas suck is when your firing them at ships that can move quickly at moments notice like eldar. Sure they fire very slowly but most of the time unless its a lighter ship you will have to use the drive in order to get out of the ring. Nova cannons are way too accurate in this game. Get the upgrade for 100% additional damage, spam the meager 4 scythes you can muster at 1200 points (hopefully we get a higher point limit at launch) and presto, an incredibly gimmicky suicide fleet. Star pulse generators is the one "cheesy" thing the Necrons have. Overall, for something that is supposed to be unique to Necrons, I rarely see it come into play in any meaningful way. Necron ships can't deal with that.Īs far as healing goes I have only noticed it make a difference once or twice, when I took a ship out of the fight for 3-5 minutes with the healing active on. Especially when you can spam 6 Avenger Grand Cruisers (Sub 200 point Grand Cruisers? Really?), slap on armor piercing macro cannons and power rams and proceed to smash ships together like a 3 year old. Spam build fleet comps are something that Necrons cannot deal with. My experience with Necrons against Imperial Navy has been. Mass Recall may be a way to mitigate this but having your flagship away from the fight or out on its own doesn’t seem like a great idea. It feels like you must commit to a fight with no way out.

Necrons may have tactical mobility with their teleports but the cooldown makes it so they cannot outrun or keep pace with most ships because everyone else has All Ahead Full or some variant. Having no shields makes medium to short range engagements difficult, this is only exacerbated when you are going to be out-numbered more often than not.
